The wait is almost over! It looks like the WordPress.org team has announced that the first release candidate of WordPress 2.7 is now available for download.
Typically release candidates are pretty safe to begin using, so if you have been waiting to try out WordPress 2.7, now might be the time!

I like it, I am just wondering how come there was no “update your wordpress to the latest” message anywhere? I had 2.6.3 then nothing happened when 2.6.5 came, now when 2.7RC1 came…no request to update….

@ Miroslav - This isn’t an official release, it is an RC (release candidate). Once WordPress 2.7 is finally “officially” released, you’ll get the message in your dashboard.

Thanks, I have already updated my site and loving it all the way.
I really like the plugin (Add New) functionality, really makes it easier for all users.

I was actually already using the beta on a live site as soon as it came out. Working with for a couple of weeks now and lovin’ it. Dashboard is way more useful now and you gotta love the automatic upgrade. I have been upgrading the beta site at least twice a day now and it went flawless.
