@ Cuzzy - Sorry to hear you had a bad experience so far. I haven't had any problems, but it seems many that have are either plugin problems or certain webhosts that give them problems.

In the future, you can always check the plugin compatibility list that WordPress maintains before upgrading. I try to look at upgrades as a good excuse to make sure your plugins are up to date anyway.

@ PremiumWP - I understand that thought process. I guess I just like to get my hands dirty. :D

This release also has some big changes I've been really looking forward to and I just couldn't wait!

WordPress 2.5 looks great, but think I will hold off upgrading for a bit and let all the early adopters expose any bugs and vulnerabilities first.

@ WP Lounge - Yeah, this new release definitely gives WordPress an extreme makeover. I've been upgrading about 20 of my sites and slowly getting used to it. :D

@ Wessley - I'm not a huge fan of the new admin panel (at least the colors), but it definitely gives it more of a modern feel.

@ Robert - You may want to double-check that you downloaded the right file. Mine do not show development version.

Why is this an official release, when it states "development version" at the bottom of admin pages?

I think this new release is awesome... the backend started to look a little old-fashioned.

My favorite new feature is the ability to upload more than one image at once. However, now you spend more time opening the popup, going to the gallery tab, etc.

It's a great new release from the WP crew. I've also wrote on my blog about it and from different sources I could tell that were made about 1300 tweaks to this new release.
It seems like a tremendous amount of work they've put in making Wordpress better and safer.

Congratulations to everyone from the WP crew.
