If you’ve visited your WordPress site’s dashboard in the past 24 hours you probably noticed that WordPress 2.9 is now available to download. I know many people like to wait to upgrade to give theme and plugin authors a chance to create updates, but the new changes in WordPress 2.9 seem to be playing nice with everything based upon all the reports I’ve read. I’ve also upgraded most of my websites that use WordPress without any theme or plugin conflicts.

I was so excited about wordpress 2.9 but after its release when I updated it, I landed with 2-3 tech issues… I checked into the forum and realize its not only me
other users are facing similar issues…
Thumbs up for WP 2.9 from me. I like the new Thrash IT feature, which lets you recover posts or comments you have deleted. Also pleased that the confirmation requests when you delete comments have been stopped.
I haven’t updated my blog to 2.9 yet but it looks that it has some very good feature like “thrash it” and i am going to update my blog now.
I am using 2.9 from the first day but there is no Batch Plugin Update. Are you sure is this feature present in 2.9?
It’s really very exciting fetures in wordpress. The most interesting feature in WordPress 2.9 is the introduction of a basic image editor. Using this feature you can crop photos, resize them and more. But the features listed above are the ones that really stand out, and caught my eye.
Kyle, I updated to wordpress 2.9 on my personal blog, but since my blog gets alot spam whenever the folder has alot of spam comments in it (200+) it seems that whenever I hit “empty spam” it times out while attempting to do it. Do you have any suggestions to improve this?
By the way I never had a problem with 2.8

Well I updated to the latest wordpress 2.9.1, and I still seem to be having the issue where it just times out…. I am thinking it may have something to do with the php memory limit… not 100% positive though. Any ideas?

Hey guys, is someone capable to make batch plugins updates with 2.9? I see now, you’re just a bunch of bots trying to get some back links.

but,after update. . .my plugins non activated. .
I can’t wait to check those new options. Especially picture editing is something that I really needed. Sometimes it can save a lot of time to edit picture and write a comment in just one window. Nice work and cheers for the creators.

If we are using the A List Apart CSS Sliding doors technique, they use an id=”current” in the li tag to create the active tab. How can I make it so that you code will append the id=”current” to the li tag of the active category?

WIt looks like like a cool feature, but I would much prefer using an image editing program like Photoshop prior to uploading the photos. It gives me a lot more flexibility and options. Plus I can optimize the images for the web so they load a lot faster.Wordepress 2.9 is really wondeful verson to use one of the most coolest feature is Global undo/trash feature, that if you accidentally delete a post or comment you can bring it back from the grave. and Built-in image editor allows you to crop, edit, rotate, flip, and scale your images to show them whos boss.
I also upgraded to 2.9.1 and everything looked fine, but whenever I try to empty the spam folder or empty trash, it times out! Sometimes it works, but it takes 10 to 15 seconds. This is definitely a WordPress problem. Any ideas on how to fix it?
I was really waiting for new version of WordPress and I must say that I’m not disappointed. Maybe it is still not perfect but many new options are available and many tools that makes this program even more efficient.

The current one isn’t bad, it’s just too many steps to get to the advanced features for formatting around the images or video. Sizing them is still fine and linking them up to the post or a larger image of the image being inserted are still options are easy to get use. I was able to install plugins and themes without many issue. Of course all of them displayed messages letting me know that they weren’t tested with this version of WP and they could blow up the universe if installed.

WordPress is just amazing, and was recently honoured as the best open source CMS around. So not just is WordPress becoming the king of the blogging platforms, but also of content management systems. It really saves a bundle on custom development and allows one to focus on good quality content.

Can you guys believe version 3.0 is in RC testing at present! Soon WordPress 3.0 will be with us! The juggernaut that is WordPress just carries on rolling, on and on….
I had a few problems with that upgrade but it turned out these were cause by plugins yet again. Another lesson to learn and keep in mind when 3.0 comes out.
