It has been awhile since I’ve created one of our popular WordPress theme galleries, so I decided it was time to build a new one. In the past I’ve always taken the approach of trying to remove any personal bias and just display the WordPress themes and demo/download information in a manageable way so that the reader can choose their favorite themes that they’d like to use.

This time I decided to comb the internet looking for my personal favorite free WordPress themes of all the different types and then throw in a few of my favorite premium WordPress themes towards the bottom. There are a number of great free WordPress themes out there, but it is often difficult to make a quality 4-column theme. I’ve found that there is definitely a market out there 4-column WordPress themes, however, so when a good one comes along, you know that it will be heavily used.

Today I ran across a new quality 4-column WordPress theme from Blog Oh Blog called Techicon. This theme is widget ready, does a great job of blending the columns so it looks like a three column theme, and takes into account some of the latest trends from around the blogosphere.

As you can see from the screenshot above, this theme has a menu at the top above the header and features some of your blogs content at the top of the page, including popular posts, recent posts, and latest comments for your readers to see. It also displays the RSS feed in a prominent position.

In previous posts I featured some of my favorite 2-column WordPress themes, as well as 3-column WordPress themes. Those will likely get the most attention, but I’ve found that there are several bloggers out there that really enjoy 4-column themes. If done properly, a 4-column theme can move a lot more stuff above the fold while at the same time give your blog a fantastic look.

Some WordPress theme designers are truly talented and have managed to make these work, so I’ve decided to create a large collection of these themes and throw them out there in all their glory for everyone to see. Here is my compilation of my favorite 4-column WordPress themes:
