You’ll want to use YARPP plugin (Yet Another Related Posts Plugin), which is easily the best plugin for modern versions of WordPress.

I’m afraid this didn’t help at all. Isn’t there a plugin that does this same thing without having to go into cPanel to make this happen?

I am still thinking of keeping the archives in my side bar but this will definetly help to keep new links going to old site content. I just installed and set it up using the automatic option for this plugin. Thanks for the post. It did help.
