Although Digg has its share of problems, it is an undeniably useful service that they provide. More often than not the best stories will make their way to the front page.

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn’t really fit in very well on Digg, as they have many users that are not bloggers, and the site is more geared towards reporting news.

If you are looking for a good WordPress Theme, I recommend checking out WP Themez. This site was inspired by Digg, and allows users to submit and vote for their favorite WordPress themes. The idea is that the best themes make their way to the top with the most votes.

So far, the site is just getting started, so its hard to gauge how useful of a resource it will develop into. The other problem is see is that most WordPress users want to find a theme that isn’t heavily used, so they will probably avoid the most popular themes.

I think that your wrong when you say “I recommend checking out WP Themez by Ricardo Galli.”. Ricardo Galli developed meneame (an spanish digg like site) and released its sources as open source. A lot of sites are using Ricardo’s sources to build digg like (or meneame like) sites, but Ricardo its not after all this sites.

    Aiva,

Thanks for the comment! According to the WP Themez About page, it says he was responsible for building the original source code. If he wasn’t responsible, then it doesn’t mention who was on that page.

To avoid confusion, I will go ahead and update the post and remove all names. Thanks for the heads up!

I am sorry for the confusion. Ricardo Galli is the creator of the open source, CMS platform, Pligg, that runs wpthemez and other “Digg-like” sites. My name is Dale Skarl and I started wpthemez for WP theme designers to showcase their art and for users to vote and make comments.

    Dale,

Thanks for stopping by! Like I said above, I like the site. I’m working on a couple themes to eventually release to the public, so I’ll be monitoring your site closely and hoping you succeed!
