Some of you may have noticed a lower than normal number of posts over the past two weeks.  This is primarily because of some major server issues we’ve been having, which resulted in all of my sites experiencing quite a bit of downtime.   Fortunately, I think yesterday afternoon we got it figured out and things have been good for the last 24 hours.

While working on our server issues, I had a little spare time that normally would have gone towards blogging.   Here is what I did with my time:

  1. Taxes – Having a business requires some changes to how you do your taxes, whether you are an LLC or a sole proprietorship.   As a result, I’ve had to spend some additional time working on the taxes for Apricot Media.  After going through this, I’ve found quite a few ways to improve my processes.  If anyone is interested in learning more about this, I’m planning to write a post about this over the coming weeks on my affiliate marketing blog, Slick Affiliate.
  2. Spring Cleaning – Once a year (at least), I’ve always felt it is good to go through your computer and clean up.   This can involve reformatting your computer(s), optimizing databases, backing up files, and cleaning out email and pictures.  We currently have over 120 websites, so this took quite a bit longer this year than in the past.   I also will typically use this time to go through my pictures and music files and make sure everything is backed up on an external drive.

What do you guys do for your computer’s yearly spring cleaning?  Share your tips in the comments!

  1. I will reformatting my computer once a year to make it faster and clean up all my old email which can be thousands or ten of thousands of them.

I have thousand of virus’s in my c and i have a strong anti-virus too. So i can manage both of them and my PC configuration is bit high. So i don’t have any problem of speed.Yeah i have to format my PC sometimes but i can save my whole data in another HD. It saves my data and stand me there where right now i am.

  3. Rachel says:

Well, whether I like it or not, it’s part of my routine to reformat my PC at least once or twice a year. Not just for maintenance but also because I really need to do it because it was infected by a virus. Besides, it’s hard not to backup my files. I really do that ever since especially when it comes to my very important files.

  4. I also clean my PC/Laptop once a year or so. Every few months I will go check my space and files and then clean up where needed.

It’s not the best fun, but sometimes I find stuff that I had forgotten about.

  6. I love cleaning up my files. I don’t know why because it always means wasting the whole day but it just makes me feel great knowing that everything is nice and neat. Like yesterday – I bought 500gb portable hard drive and moved 100gb of data from my PC and around 350gb from different cds and dvds scattered around the house. I feel great now knowing that I’ve got everything in one place.
